The "Simple Light" was a commission to create a prototype to be displayed at the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in New York in 2008. The goal was to create a seamless porcelain shell 58" in the longest dimension with only a 1/8" thickness. Free of flat-spots, blemishes, or traces of a maker, it was a minimalist eye catching design. The secondary goal was to create the production process that would make mass production possible. The end result was 6 month journey of innovation and specialized processes that resulted in the realization of a virtual model coming to life. Once the main fixture was complete we collaborated to include smaller pieces such as a table lamp and hanging pendent lighting.
